When constable John M THESING was trying to quiet DUFFY, Grover came up to the constable and took a swing at him with the hook on his right arm, tearing the constable's shirt and suspenders. Grover changed his plea three times finally pleading guilty to intoxication but not to assaulting the constable - saying he ws defending his friend Frank from a beating. He eventually paid a fine of ten dollars rather than going to jail for three days.
