He could be the same George MORCOM who made an application for citizenship in Iowa Co. on 10 November 1853 (a year before John applied at the same office). We have not yet found any family connection between George and the brothers John and Elisha.

If the marriage of their daughter Bessie has been correctly identified then it is likely that the family were in Luzerne by 1885. Not known if 1892 address was in Wilkes-Barre itself
The presence of John and Eliza in Luzerne town in 1910 may be particularly significant. In the 1910 Census their youngest son Edwin and his family were 2 miles away in Kingston [by 1920 in Luzerne], where William Leonard MORCOM had been born in 1905.
William Leonard was the grandson of the John MORCOM, who married Mary HARVEY, & died in a Mayfield mining accident c.1885. I believe that this John MORCOM is identical with John MORCOM (04581) the elder brother of Edwin, but lack conclusive proof

BIRTH:

DEATH:

EMIGRATION:

Lynton GOULD is fairly certain that his great-grandfather, John JamesMORCOM, had a business in Gawler, but one of his children was born in Two Wells, Port Gawler in 1872 and the next in Gawler Plains, Port Gawler in 1877. It is of course possible that John James returned to Gawler in the interval, or that hiswife was visiting her mother when the two children were born. Other details could fit either John.
