Residence Notes:
At marriage Annie was "of Hemmerford, P.Q.Canada". Various letters to her brothers indicate that from about Sept 1874 until 1882, Annie and her children were boarding in towns near her husband's work, though he may have been away from home.
By about May 1881 she was in St Louis where rents were "high" at $30 per month.

GENERAL NOTE:
Mary Anne McKAY was a gifted artist and painted china very beautifully.In a long letter to her parents dated May 1st 1881, Mary Anne is concerned about both Willie and Fred having caught the measles and hooping cough.They were living in rented accommodation but intended to look for a house soon as they were tiredof living in boarding houses and considered rents to be high at $30 per month. She intended to go, with the children, to visit friends in Ferguson (12 miles from St Louis) for most of May. Willie has started kindergarten before his illnessesbut Mary Anne now intended to delay his return to school until the Autumn
