GENERAL NOTE:
NB It is speculated here that Ann was the daughter of William MORCOMBE and Sarah HUTCHINGS and that Sarah (in the same 1841 household) was the daughter of Ann's sister Grace. More proof needed of this relationship. Did both Ann and Grace go from Plymouth to relatives in nearby St Germans to give birth to illegitimate children?Only Ann MORCOMBE is entered in the IGI as the parent of George William MORCOMBE, and of Jane MORCUMBE. Sometimes the mother only was entered in parish records, even though both parents were still alive. The first child of both George William and Jane was named Mary Ann - very probably after their mother.A probable death certificate for George MORCOMBE records his father as `Wm.'. This suggests that the birth was legitimate [Check if the certificate gives the father' surname as `MORCOMBE']. If this is not the case, Ann's surname MORCOMBE could be her maiden name rather than married name.
